1. Introduction

.

Here are the basics. The surface level of the internet is basically everything that is indexed by search engines such as Google, Facebook, YouTube, etc. These are all surface sites. But according to The Guardian, you can only access around 0.03% of the total internet on a search engine.

.

Now, it should be noted that the VAST majority of this is boring. When we talk about the deep web we’re talking about everything from school networks to pay-sites. However, that isnt’t to say that there isn’t a lot of what you would expect to see on a nearly total anonymous network.

.

Everything disgusting and despicable you can ever think of is here. Terrorist hives, real underground gladiator rings, online drug services, child porn, even assassins. I’m going to be exploring a bit of this, while trying to maintain as close to secure as possible.

.

Most of it is just content that’s not indexed by most search engines, THAT IS ALL. It’s not some spooky internet underworld where you get computer raped.

.

2. Precautions

.

It should be noted that it is impossible to be completely safe here. There are hackers, there are viruses, there are trojans. I’ve gone through several precautions to help make sure I’m as safe as possible while browsing.

.

First of all, I’m using special proxy which uses a system of CGI-Relays in conjunction with a socks program that forces all connections from my computer through the proxy.

.

In addition i’m running the TOR Anonymizer service, which is required to access .onion domains, which is basically all of the websites we are looking for.

.

On top of all of this, I am browsing through a random SSL proxy I found on the internet. All of this makes my connection hard to trace and hard to crack.

.

However, this does not make me completely safe. I have disabled cookies, java, flash, and disabled the cache. I have increased the security on my virus and firewall protection.

.

Besides that, I have taken a back up of my main hard drive and stored it on an external hard disk which I have disconnected from the computer. I have cleared all of my login passwords and credit card information from autofill browsing histories. I have also unplugged my webcam and my microphone to prevent an intrusion of that sort.

.

There is a lot more you would probably have to do if you were an actual criminal, but since I don’t plan on doing anything that could get me arrested, I’m mostly focused on protecting myself from an attack.

.

3. First Stop

.

So the first stop on this trip will be the main directory of the TOR network, core.onion. This is basically a list of all of the websites that host content on the anonymous deep internet. On this page is links to the TOR Directory, the Hiddin Wiki, and Masked, which is basically a super anonymous 4 chan.

.

On the directory page you’ll find basically what you’d expect to find in a directory. The majority of what is on the Adult section is child porn (irony?). I’m not going to click on it for obvious reasons. Its pretty fucking disgusting. Time to move on!

.

4. Hidden Wiki

.

Probably the most well known secret site, Hidden wiki is the wikipedia of the anonymous internet and basically has everything you would expect it to have. Theres a giant panoramic picture of the main pages of the hidden wiki, so i’m not going to bother posting it here, but here are some of the things you can find.

.

Anonymous classified ads

.

Bitcoins are the currency of the TOR network. Its basically anonymous money that is kept on a p2p network. The theory is it is much harder to trace than other forms of payment.

.

5. Talk.Masked

.

If you’ve been on the internet you’ve probably been on 4 chan one time or another. Now imagine a 4chan where it is completely 100% unmoderated, and posters are completely anonymous? Thats basically talk.masked.

.

6. Conclusion

.

So anyways, I feel thats enough for 1 post. Please please please, if you’re looking to use the .onion network, take every precaution you can possibly think of. Don’t do anything illegal, you will get caught. Don’t be stupid, it will cost you.

.

I hope I was able to give you guys an idea of what kind of stuff you can find here. Remember, the VAST majority of what is on the hidden internet is boring. It is everything that a search engine cant see. Use this information at your own risk.
